Languages in our Community
Children in Key Stage 2 have been finding out about the languages some of our parents speak. Over the last term, pupils have had the opportunity to attend an after school club to learn about different cultures and traditions celebrated by families at Clinton . They have tasted all sorts of exciting new food and learnt some simple words and phrases. Parents volunteered their time to run the club, teaching children about language and culture in;
- Israel
- Demark
- Germany
- Romania
- Holland
- Italy
- China
Later on in the term, the whole school will be celebrating the Beijing Olympics by spending a week investigating Chinese culture, including art and dance. They will look at aspects of Chinese geography and history as well as learning about traditional tales.
In August, a group of pupils from Key Stage 2 will be attending a residential course in Rutland where they will be immersed in Mandarin and in learning about different aspects of Chinese culture.
